These days I really need more time to get things done. So many things to do and when I really have a lot of time to sit down and do them, other things always come up that need to get done. Between school, things around the house, homework and getting some websites finished up, there’s hardly any free time left to get in some reading, and there is a lot of reading I would like to do. A month or so ago I started reading ‘Age and Guile Beat Youth, Innocence, and a Bad Haircut’ by P.J. O’Rourke and even now I’m just barely half way through it. At not quite 400 pages it’s not exactly a long book but it’s a really good book; would love to send it to Ana because I’m sure she would really enjoy it, however, my dad said something about he won’t contribute to the corruption of the youth in the U.S. If I can ever finish reading that, there’s four or five programming books sitting on my desk that have barely been touched. One on perl, c++, bash scripting; I’ve read the first chapter or so of each and can’t wait to finish them.
One way I keep thinking of to get more time in for reading would be taking the train from home up close to school. Would eliminate most of the drive and give me an hour or so sitting on the train to read…or hopefully sit. The train tends to be crowded fairly regularly and on occasion loses air conditioning / heat. Not so bad in most months, but on some days that can be a really painful hour long trip. Could always read while driving up to class but doctors have proven that reading a novel and driving is generally bad for your health.
If I can get through Age and Guile by the end of this month and plan on reading a book every two months after that, by my birthday next year I should be finished with most of the books I have now. Lets just hope that I don’t get a half dozen books between now and then; have to take a month off work and classes to just sit at home and read. :p
This new super sized collider is a really neat piece of work and smashing protons sounds like a lot of fun, be a great job wouldn’t it? sit around smashing things together just to watch them smash; some two year old somewhere is probably jealous. There are stories and doomsday posts all over the internet about the possibility of creating tiny black holes while scientists are looking for “Higgs boson” or the “God Particle”, that would be a bad thing, sucking the earth into a itty bitty tiny hole that we made on accident. Just one thing hasn’t been mentioned anywhere, that I have seen; what if instead of smashing particles and creating black holes, we instead do end up making one of these Higgs boson things. That would be great wouldn’t it? Finally prove the theory correct…but, it might not stop with just creating one, we may actually create our own pocket-sized soon-to-be-gigantically-huge universe in a 17-mile long tube…then what? My guess, a bunch of scientists staring at an array of computer screens going “oh shit…”.
It took almost three hours of work, and a very large headache, but finally I have a schedule for my second to last quarter at ITT Tech. The schedule could look better, a lot better really, I’m in two night classes and the morning classes really are working better for me; however, this is the only time either class is offered and if I want to graduate in March then I have to take both of them this quarter. All of the classes this quarter actually look interesting and for once I don’t have any classes that involve a lot of writing or out of class work which will give me more time to spend with Ana and to work on the FooGam site. The classes for this quarter are:
IT203 – Database Development (Thursday AM)
IT260 – Network Security (Monday PM)
IT302 – Linux Administration (DIS)
IT320 – WAN Technology and Application (Friday PM)
Leaving these classes for the last quarter:
GE347 – Group Dynamics
TB332 – Professional Procedures and Portfolio Development
IT321 – Network Technology and Service Integraion
IT331 – Network Dev Capstone Project
Since moving to Maelin Starpyre from The Tribunal, I have been raiding…a lot and I have come to realize that raiding is the reason I play EverQuest. Yes, grouping is fun and yes doing quests is fun too but raids are awesome. Those raids on the bleeding edge of the game are the best to me, getting out and beating up the newest and hardest things for the best rewards. How busy have I been with raiding? Well, I don’t quite do it every night for 8 hours, and i’m sure my girlfriend would kill me if I did (besdies…I love spending time with her, she’s completely awesome). Here is my character and a little taste of what I do in my freetime by playing Everquest.
